Look for my first Volvo
Hello everyone. I am looking to purchase my first Volvo. Because of where I live and my commute I need something with AWD. Secondly, I have two large dogs who both have hip issues so I need something easy for them to get into. I also want something safe. All of that combined made me look into Volvo and I'm liking what I'm seeing. I'm not sure what to purchase though. Maybe you all can help. My drive is on 55 mph backroads (lots of small hills) and in the winter it is in the snow belt and roads they don't really plow well. The rest of the time when I'm home, we like to take the dogs on car rides and trips. I've been looking at maybe a used XC70 or a XC90 (remove the passenger's side middle seat). Any recommendations or help would be awesome. I'm excited to be part of this

The V70 is slightly lower than the XC70 and can be found with AWD which may make access easier for the dogs, Do you expect the dogs to ride in the back seat area or in the trunk - if the trunk, I'd measure the height required so you can compare to see if the V70/XC70 trunks are tall enough
What year models are you looking at and what is your budget?

So the dogs always ride in the backseat. I would like to spend under 6000. I have seen some stuff for under 6000 around 2004 - 2008. What's the differences between a xc70 and a v70. I guess I'm asking why do both exist if that makes sense?
The main difference would be ride height and handling characteristics. The XC70 gains height giving up some of the more stable handling the V70. I’m not positive, but I think the base XC is optioned equivalent to a higher spec V70 so you may land some better options with more XCs on the market.
keep in mind their user name even though he or she is a member of a Volvo Enthusiast forum 😂 I’d take it with a grain of salt as they’re probably a troll.
