Hello folks, I have just been granted a 1996 850. Now this is a special car for my family. This car was the 50th wedding anniversary gift from Grandfather to Grandmother while they were stationed in Germany. Grandfather drove over to Sweden and purchased it factory direct (so I'm told). Grandmother loved it from first sight! They kept all the original paperwork, even the import paperwork to Galveston TX. Well over the life of the car it had been cherished and well maintained until 2010 or 11 when it got parked in the Tennessee mountains where they retired in 2000. The 850 has 251k on the odometer however that didn't work at the time it was put to pasture. Grandmother says it isn't much over that. As you can imagine the environment has taken it's toll on the poor car. The tires are weather rotted, the brakes are stuck, the rims are pitted and the trunk became a home to a family of ground squirrels. On a bright note all the maintenance to this point was spot on, timing belts, fluid changes and so on. Basically lots of cosmetic and little mechanical work to be done, but she will stay in the family for as long as I have a say. I will post pics for the before and after in the near future. I do want to say this is a great forum and thank you for all the wonderful expertise shared to the masses.
