Default New/First-time Volvo owner.

Hi all. My wife and I Just bought a 2014 Volvo S60 T5 AWD.

After 24 hours of ownership, we're loving it.

I'll ask in the appropriate forum, but just curious if anyone knows how to shut the lights off in the front footwells? I checked the owner's manual, I can't find it.

Anyway, I'll be poking around for some cool information.

They are suppose to turn off with the door overhead light. If they are on when you exit the car, get them fixed ASAP. You don't want a drained battery.

Very nice. Thanks for the pic.

My question is, do they stay off while the car is parked?

If the car is off, they're off. I think they are one with the car running and lights on. What I'd like to do is have them off while the car is driving.

I understand. Good to know they will not drain your battery. So they are some sort of courtesy light.

I just checked the owners manual and that is not an easy question to answer. After looking at the manual for several minutes, I have decided that we both need to attend the class that they MUST have to teach people how to use the modern features of the car.

I'm sure you can go into your settings and turn those things off, just didn't see how in the manual. Sorry but congratulations on an awesome new car. If it bothers you to much meet me somewhere and we'll swap cars straight up. LOL

Thanks for checking. It's my wife's car, so I don't get to drive it either. I get to drive my seven year old pickup with no truck payment.

The speedo display shows you if there's an open door. But I appreciate that you're willing to check it out. Thank you.

Far from a 2014, but my 05 V70 has dash light adjustment wheel on the left side by the head light switch, maybe something similar in the 14,

congrats on a great ride!

I don't want to shut the dash lights off, just the footwell lights.

"I don't want to shut the dash lights off, just the footwell lights"...understood but if it clicked at max, it may have the footwell lights locks on, try to adjust wheel down a lil' bit....or

maybe try
Home safe lighting
When you leave your vehicle at night, you can
make use of the home safe lighting function to
illuminate the area in front of the vehicle.
1. Remove the key from the ignition slot.
2. Pull the turn signal lever as far as possible
towards the steering wheel and release it.
3. Exit the vehicle and lock the doors.
The headlights, parking lights, turn signals,
lights in the door mirrors, license plate lights,
and footwell lighting will illuminate and remain
on for 30 2, 60 or 90 seconds. The time interval
can be set in MY CAR under Settings Car
settings Light settings Home safe light
duration. See page 133 for a description of
the menu system.
