Make sure to test drive both vehicles before making a decision. And when you've made up your mind, have it inspected by a reputable ASE-certified technician, preferably at an independent shop specialising in Swedish/Euro makes or at a dealer.

Welcome. Check out the S40 and S60 forums. I can speak for the S60. I've had my 02 S60 NA for almost 3 years now and I really like it.
