Hi all

New volvo owner, but not a new volvo - I recently bought an '89 740 GL wagon as my '90 Audi Coupe Quattro was too cramped for my current needs. I'm still not quite sure if I bought a lemon yet - body's great, it ran fine, it's passed the safety inspection no problems but has failed the emissions test badly so I can't yet drive it. I should hear today the garage's verdict on what next - fingers crossed! They said they were surprised (as was I) as there were no signs it was likely to fail - nothing outwardly suggested the cat or other exhaust parts were shot, everything looked good.

So, looking forward to getting to know my new car on the road.



It's been turbo'd in the past and I believe I have everything needed to do that again at some point, I got a whole load of spares with the car. But one step at a time!

Welcome to the forum.

I bet all the car needs is a good tuneup. Do a search on stage zero and read the threads. It will help a lot.

 

Thanks, Andrew, I'll start going through it. I'm sure a tune up will do it good anyway but now with a replacement cat, it passed emissions today so I should get it back in the next day or two. Pretty excited!
