new member...new owner this weekend!
After getting out of debt completely 6 months ago, I have lived downtown in portland, maine without a car. last car was a 3 series bmw, only a few years old. the world is different now that I legitimately own everything and not tied to a bank or loan or something. feels great.
building myself back in the passed few months and almost bought a late 90's m3, realized I didn't want to sink a small fortune, and big chunk of my savings, into a summer car. started looking into volvo's. as I always wanted one in highschool. cheap, affordable in comparison to the bmw world. and rock f'n solid.
IDK ANYTHING ABOUT VOLVOS!!! thats my first problem. so I am power cramming all that I can in before I go and look at a few.
tomorrow evening I'm looking at a 92 245 wagon thing. white, boxy, beautiful. 266k miles. 5 speed. cloth interior. new exhaust. no head unit. anything I should look at specifically that is known?
I am proficient with motorcycle engines, and have a basic shade tree mechanics knowledge of cars. oil changes, sourcing leaks, alternator replacement, 2 timing belt changes (one vw, and one ford). youtube is an amazing place. If youtube had a university, I would graduate from it top of my class!
hope it all works out tomorrow, being with out a cage is tough. motorcycles are fun and all, but gets to be tedious for wet weather around town jaunts. man it'll be nice to have a car again!
