New MN Volvo XC90 owner
Hi, I'm Dirk and last Friday I flew to Chicago and drove back to the Twin Cities in a 2005 XC90. After looking at several XC's in my area, I found this one which seemed too good to be true. It's the V8 model, with Nav, factory Rear Seat DVD (the one with 2 monitors), park assist, towing, Xenon and all the rest. I'm deliriously happy with the purchase as I have yet to find anything seriously wrong with it. ("Alarm service required" message and some of the defroster wires are not working.) Seeing as we're in the middle of a blizzard at the moment, I'm very happy to be getting back into an AWD vehicle again. It handles very nicely in the snow and ice and the DSTC is pretty clever. Nice one, Volvo!
My family drove Volvos when I was growing up and they were the first cars I learned to drive. Recently my father bought a 2008 XC70 and I realised just how nice the Volvos have become in the last 20 years since I've owned one.
Thanks for this forum, where I've already discovered things I didn't know about my car and found the solution to the alarm message problem. I'm an avid home mechanic and I hope to be able to contribute photos and how-to's in the future.
