New S80 owner
Greetings fellow Volvo owners,
My name is Jeff, just bought a used 2001 S80, 160K miles on it last week, the owner had it smogged, said the tech said it may need struts in the near future, but it passed the smog test.
Preliminary road test did reveal "clunking "over bumps and imperfections, so My son and I looked into the price of struts...$117.00 for low grade up to $275-350 high end, we went ahead and bought the car for $2K.
Had the car about a week, then noticed water dripping from R front corner, my son was driving it home, and a low coolant message was displayed on the dashboard. I thought it was AC condensation, but turned out to be cracked radiator, didn't want to tackle the job ourselves, so took it to a shop around the corner from us, and, $879 dollars later, had a new radiator, thermostat, and ETC sensor put in.
In spite of this setback, we still want to keep the car and do repairs/ upgrades as needed.
Here is a pic....
