Newb - Just bought S70
Hello.
I just purchased a 1998 S70. The car was a one-owner with 67k. It's is in perfect shape, never been in an accident, and ALWAYS serviced by the dealer. It honestly looks brand new -- not a ding on it.
I've never owned a Volvo before, but this website was a huge factor in my decision to purchase the car. You all seem very happy with your Volvos and I didn't discover any huge surprises, which indicates that the cars are reliable. That's what I was looking for.
My first task was to replace a couple of dash lights and radio lights that had burned out. Gotta love a car when the most common complaint you can find on the Internet is burned-out light bulbs! Ha! The directions I found were perfect. I purchased the bulbs from Radio Shack and had everything replaced in less than an hour.
Thanks for the great information. This looks like a great forum and I'm looking forward to learning more from all your insights.

RE: Newb - Just bought S70
I paid $5,000 for it. I think I got a pretty good deal. It has heated leather seats, moon roof, new brakes and tires. The only thing wrong with it was malfunctioning passenger door lock (which I replaced for $83), the dash lights I mentioned in my earlier post, and the trim on one of the door panels has loosened (another known problem, which I will have repaired in time). It's a beautiful car and I hope to get a lot of use out of it.
I had a Mitsubishi Diamante that I recently gave to my daughter who is a college student. It was another great low mileage find from a couple of years ago. I really hated to part with it. I needed to find a replacement and noticed an S40 a couple of months ago that I really liked. Unfortunately, I missed that one, but I kept my eyes open. I found this Volvo a few weeks ago. Good luck with your search.
