Power drop off when changing down
Hi to you sensible people who bought a volvo.
My first vist to this forum so be gentle with me.
I have a V reg, Volvo V70 Estate 2.4.
The engine idles at around 800 -900 rpm and last Friday evening was a good example. I have driven around 120 miles and hit a series of roundabouts. Every time I changed down the revs dropped well below the idle speed and several time the engine cut out. It re-starts again okay and I have it serviced regularly and my mechanic can find nothing wrong.
Before I take it to the Main Dealers who charge a fortune I woundered if anyone else had come up against this problem.
Thanks
Tim.

It could very well be a faulty throttle body.I would first have the throttle body cleaned and see if it helps.Does the check engine light come on at all?The throttle body is the thing that goes bad the most on those cars. The only other possibility I could think of would be the transmission. Hanging in gear while you are slowing down and not downshifting like it should. But it could be software related with the trans.Do you remember when your car had the last software upgrade? You might also want to try to see if there are any upgrades for your car. Good luck
I will help as much as i can so if you need any more just write back.

Thanks for the info at least I have somewhere to start now. The trouble round here is that the main volvo dealerships have a reputation for shall we say telling there is much more wrong than there is and charging a small fortune to have it put right.
Thanks again.
Tim.
