power loss after K&N drop-in installed
Hi New to the forum and new to Volvo (less than 1 year). I have 2004 S60 2.5T with Sport and Premium. my car has 53K, and I just bought and installed a K&N drop-in. I took the car for a test drive (like any car nut does, knowing full well I would not feel the few extra ponies), it seemed to have less power, like it was bogging down, but it never surged. Also, it did not sound as though the timing was retarding like when the traction control kicks in, just plain dog'n. I could hear the intake noise and the turbo a little better, and the turbo sounded like it was spooling just fine.
Anyway, any suggestions? I am assuming the filter only goes in one way, with the two pull tabs up?
Thanks for the help
Mike

Yes, but I dont know how long it takes on the newer cars.
Ifelt like it lose some power when I first installed the cone filter on my 745T, which has a "slow" ECU.
It took me~1 day before it actually got back to normal (you really wont "feel" anything from it, unless you get an exhaust and/or a tune)
Give it one more day, but after a couple of days, and it doesnt improve, I would take it back.

I could be wrong, but I really don't think you should notice that much of an issue, or for that long of a drive from just a new air filter. I would...
1-Check the air filter to be sure you didn't over oil it. Take it out, make sure no oil is in the air box and vaccume the filter to get any excessive oil out. The oil can reek havok on the MAF sensor.
2- Check all the connections around the air box and intake. Could be you just knocked something loose and didn't realize.
3- If still having problems, as TIPSP said take it back.
