Power drop when accelerating
New to VF, looked though posts and didn't see an answer to this, so sorry if this has been addressed and I missed it.
'05 XC90 2.5T - Has recently started to drop power when you press accelerator, causing car to not get up to speed very quickly. As this occurs, there is a vibration associated with the hesitation. Once you get up to speed, the issues stops.
It doesn't matter if you are accelerating from a complete stop, or if you are going, at say, 35 MPH and you want to accelerate from there, the vibration/hesitation occurs. You simply cannot press down very much on the accelerator. Almost seems like too much gas causes problem.
I did get a P0456 engine code last week, but I got rid of that code by simply unscrewing and rescrewing the gas cap. Check engine light hasn't returned. One time, while the car was having a particularly intense bout with the vibration thing, the check engine light flashed about three times, but never came/stayed on.
I have a couple of ideas, but since I am not an expert, thought I would see if there is a simple solution out there.
Any thoughts? Does anyone need more information to help me with this one? Just had a big repair bill on a different car, so I'm trying to figure out if I can fix this myself, or if I need to bite the bullet and take it into the shop.
Thanks
