Question Recently purchased a 2000 and stuff is going bad.

Hi, I'm new to this whole forum thing so forgive me, I recently purchased a 2000 s40 1.9t in California. Over the next couple days I did general mainence as the car was sitting for two years, oil changed brakes checked and fluid changed lights changed. I drove all the way across the country to Florida and now things are going wrong. Both headlights went out at the same time and it's not the fuses I checked I read that it could be the CEM so I got another from a junk yard and still nothing. And today when I accelerate, around 55-60 and higher the abs and brake light on the dash comes up and the engine shakes/rattles harder the faster I go, this wasn't an issue when I was driving across the country j was doing 80-90 and there were no issues. PLEASE HELP I LOVE THIS CAR

Not sure you can swap in a used CEM - I think they get married to the car. Shaking is either a bad tire or more than likely a bad axle shaft. 17 year old cars will need attention here and there.

The shaking feels more like the engine, but I'll check the tires and axels, as far as the CEM goes, I thought the same as you but I popped it in there and everything ran the exact same so now I have 2 CEMs no headlights and a shakey car, is the ABS from the shaking?

doubt it - might be a wheel sensor - need to read the codes

shaky engine could be a motor mount. As to the CEM, in the 2000 S40s are not married to the immobilizer, you can swap out plug and play. I paid $60 for used CEM for mine.
