S60R engine rebuild T5 block with R head
Hello, new to forum and could do with advice.
I am an ex S60 D5 owner and loved it. I have the chance to aquire a 2003 S60R AWD.
The S60R had a termostat issue leading to overheating and resulted in a cracked cylinder liner. The car has been tuned with larger pipes, intercoler, LSD, stage 2 map producing 365hp.
Instead of resleeving the 2.5ltr block, the seller purchased and installed a 2.3ltr engine on the basis that it is a stronger block unit, got distracted and its been left half installed as the 2.3ltr head has VVT on inlet only and so not supporting the additional exhaust VVT sensors on the R's 2.5ltr head.
Does anyone know if the R's 2.5ltr head will mate with T5's 2.3ltr block?
I have both engines avaiable with the car and advice would be helpful, shoud I revert back and resleeve the 2.5ltr block, or is the 2.3ltr block and R head a good way forward.
Thanks.
Gimby
