Default Tensioner

Is there a rebuild kit for the timing belt tensioner or is it best to just order a new one. I have a 2001 V70 2.4t

I'm trying to compress the spring back in

Buy a new one - no individual parts are sold for that tensioner.

(personally, I would not risk my valves on a repaired tensioner even if it were possible)

Always go with a new tensioner whenever replacing the timing belt. Think of it this way - for want of a $50 part, are you going to risk a $3000 valve job? More often than not, a "timing belt" failure was actually a tensioner failure that took out the belt.

Thank you kindly for your insight. You're absolutely right though. This is my second Euro car all the rest I've owned have been import including racing auto x in my Honda eg hatch. I dumped $9,000 into the motor, cage, suspension just to have s faulty new timing belt snap at full throttle that sound will never leave my head lol
