v70 2010 tailgate lock issues
I have a 2010 V70 D5. yesterday the tailgate lock jammed in the locked position and after doing all the usual electrical checks (fuses/wiring) I concluded it was the lock itself that was the issue, could hear the lock itself clicking when trying to unlock.
So I managed to remove the lock while still attached in the locked position by drilling a small hole through the steel housing which enabled me to unlatch the locking mech using a small screwdriver, I had no 'secret hole' for this procedure which is available on some models.
Anyway, the tailgate is now unlocked, but I'm sure the problem was with the locking mech itself and sourcing a 2nd hand one at the moment is not looking good, vehicle has power tailgate , which I was very disappointed with as the tailgate didn't always close straight away if any debris/items of upholstery/ wet tray had got cuaght in the locking system.
My question to you all is, are there any ways of swapping the power tailgate system for a standard tailgate system, can I simply replace the current locking mech for a non power locking mech, which are easily available 2nd hand, and would this require replacing the tailgate struts for non power struts, which I would prefer.
many thanks for your patience .
