Default Vehicle Protection Plan - to buy or not to buy?

Just joined the Volvo club with a new 2014 XC60 T6 and couldn't be more excited. However, my purchase isn't done....yet.

Curious to get folks' thoughts on whether or not the vehicle protection plan is worthing purchasing at $2k/$4k for 5yrs or 10yrs respectively. The dealer could not find the paperwork for the plans but provided this:
__________________________

Both plans include all the scheduled maintenance along with covering all wear items i.e. brakes, rotors, wiper blades, belts, hose, fuse, bulbs, etc. In summary it covers everything but gas and tires (or things related to the tires like balance, alignment, and rotation) for the 5 year plan and for the 10 year plan it is 4 years of warranty and 10 years of maintenance plus wear coverage. It would also be for either 50,000 or 100,000 miles.

We plan to keep the car for a long time, hopefully 10+ years. So, curious to get thoughts on whether or not it is worthwhile to purchase this now. The explanation of what is and isn't covered is a bit thin so I need to get more information on that, but any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

Too many details missing to give you good advice. You say the 10 year plan only has 4 years of warranty? There should be much longer available. Is this the factory backed or 3rd party?
