Volvo S60 2.0 Turbo Oil consumption Problem
Hello
I have a 2001 S60 (2.0L Turbo 180HP).
It has used over 14 Liters off oil after only driving it for 20 000km.
It's not leaking anywhere, the engine is clean. except for the Trubo, which has some dry oil on it.
The exhaust is completely black on the inside, it the cat is spitting (small black bits shooting out)
The exhaust also backfires( not sure if there are actually flames, but its makes a loud *pop* or *bang* noise) only on rapid gear changes or on the launch kontroll.
Does anyone know where the problem might be, my guess is that the turbo has gone bad. (car has gone 257 000 km)
Thanks for any replies

have you done dry and wet compression tests to check? My guess is you either have cylinder wall or ring problems or a bad seal in the turbo. You can also try popping off the intake hose into the turbo and see if there's excessive play (check YouTube for vids on the how to). Are you seeing any signs of blue smoke, particularly on hard accelleration or engine braking?

Thanks
Its hard to see any smoke, since I had to cut off the last muffler (rust)
But sometimes, when its dark outside I can indeed see some smoke on hard acceleration.
I just remembered I had a friends off mine see if the exhaust spits any oil. so when i reved it to the launchcontroll (4K RPM) he got some oil drops on his face.
I will also try the methods you mentioned, thanks alot
