Question Volvo S60

Hi everyone I just purchased an amazing clean 2002 S60 Volvo with 98k miles, runs amazing! However in the mornings it has rough time starting up, seems like gas not passing, it takes it about a minute to get going, then runs like a champ! I have been reading might be gas relay, has anyone heard of this? I have so much to learn from this car!!

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome aboard, nice to hear you're enjoying your new Volvo. You've found the right place to learn and talk about it, feel free to ask away any questions you have.

I am going to avoid commenting on cars passing gas... If you have long cranks on a cold engine it can be a fuel pressure issue - ie a pressure regulator or pressure sensor. Running rough when cold could be the engine coolant temp sensor may be at fault or the MAF/Throttle body or idle valve (not sure if the 2002s even have an idle valve...) may need a cleaning. Finally do you have a check engine light? - if so post the codes as that will help. The car should have been given new plugs at about 75K miles but if not, consider installing a fresh set of OEM plugs (for some reason Volvos don't always like aftermarket plugs ) I wouldn't suspect the fuel pump relay on a 100K mile car - unless the fuel pump itself were acting up. You can also check the air filter etc.
