Volvos for towing
Hello, i've been thinking about buying a Volvo. Right now i've got a Ford F150 because i need to towa trailer on occasion. But with the cost of gas going skyhigh, i've been thinking about getting something smaller. The truck is much more car than i need, other than when i pulling the trailer. I've heard that volvos get pretty good gas mileage and are capable of towing. Does anybody have experience with this? How much can they tow? I need it to be able to pull a motorcycle or two.</P>

With factory Volvo hitch a Volvo can 2 motorcycles on a trailer depending on size of bikes might need brakes on trailer. But yes it possible. Most volvos can tow 2000 lbs with out brakes on trailer & 3300,-3500 lbs with brakes on trailer. Check with your Volvo dealer to see specs for your specific Volvo.
If you're towing with these things make sure you replace transmission fluid every 10-25,000 miles. I used to tow 20 canoes at a time on a rack with my 03 v70. However, The aisin transmissions will die out on earlier models especially with strain of towing without fluid changes or flushes regularly. Something I learned the hard way. Good luck.
