Hi everyone. I've just bought my first Volvo, a 2006 s80 SE Lux. Really pleased with it and it's been extremely well looked after. I want to top up the coolant. It's currently orange in colour. I visited Halfords and the one in their book recommended a blue coloured standard Halfords brand. Obviously I don't want to mix colours! When I went to the cashier, she brought up on the computer that the actual recommended coolant is 'COMMA XSTREAM G64'. I've looked into this and the colour of this coolant is green!! Can anyone recommend which brand I should be topping up with? Many thanks.

 

I'd start by looking at the owners manual (available online) to get the OEM part number, then you can also check in with Volvo friendly web stores like FCP Euro or IPD USA as their sites will recommend compatible products. Not sure about your year but my 2000 S40 uses the blue, my old 95 850 used the green. Our Toyota uses pink (appropriate as its my wife's car) so google around to learn what meets your specs. Since the car is new to you, if you feel the current coolant wrong, I'd do a flush and get the car back to the factory recommended product.
