Is it really necessary to use Volvo coolant or is a good quality phosphate free coolant sufficient?

 

Try the HIGH MILEAGE COOLANT FROM Valvoline...

 

Most use the green stuff. If you can afford the Volvo stuff do.

 

My internet searches determined that Volvo's should preferably have a hybrid organic type.
I have just done mine using 'Nulon Green' - Long life. which is a hybrid.
Good for 4 years or 250,000km's.

 

where did you buy it???....Australian stuff.....for your down under.

 

Yes, 'Nulon' is Australian and their products are also readily available here in New Zealand.
Sold thru 'Super Cheap Auto' outlets which are spread throughout Australia and NZ.

Have also been investigating literature on their full synthetic multi vehicle ATF which supposedly meets 3309 spec's and is to Volvo 97340 rating also.
