Yet another new member -- 2001 V60 2.4T
Howdy from Texas. I just had my previous car's transmission burn up, and as it turns out, it was worth more than the car itself -- to the scrapyard it goes.
I just purchased a 2001 V60 2.4T in Dallas from a dealership. It is in extremely good condition, and appears to have about all the options that came on the 2001 model.
Silver, with black leather interior, and what looks like mahogany woodgrain.
The dealer (family friend) agreed to replace the tires, knock out a single tiny door ding, and replace the rear tint (this was not stock, so it bubbled slightly). It also appears that a sensor went out (service engine light), so he agreed to take it to Volvo and have it through a full inspection, on the gamble that the repair will be an inexpensive sensor. If the repair happens to be more, he will eat the cost. Also, the dealership included a 2 year full warranty -- I can have it serviced anywhere, even at a Volvo dealership and they cover cost.
It has 58K miles under one owner with well-documented regular oil changes and tuneups from the original dealership.
They will work on it this week, and I should have it this weekend.
Any suggestions on fixing her up, performance or otherwise?
Find any generic s60 picture with low pro's, and that's my car.
Edit: here are some terrible cell phone pics:

Yes it is, my dad has worked in TV for . . . well 40 years, and I was visiting my parents for thanksgiving when they introduced me to the salesman and inadvertantly the car.
Didn't think a camera phone picture would ever receive a compliment -- Thanks. Although I'm sure Volvo would've done something about that nasty stain on the concrete. I just knew the lighting would be semi-decent under the parking lot lamp.

The stain was probably left by an envious BMW driver! Welcome aboard from across The Pond.

I just found out that the original sticker was included with the car. Looks like it includes the Premium package -- sunroof, leather facing seats, and then some things that aren't so obvious. . .
Premium Audio w/ Single CD and "Loud Speakers in Rear Hat Shelf" ???
The regular audio system was six speakers and a 25-watt amp, with active sound control. To the layman, this sounds better than the "Premium" system so far. . . any details?
I am a bit of an audiophile, so I was disappointed at first with the single bass/treble ****, however it actually sounded very nice, even with limited control.
Thanks guys.

I'm not an expert on the 60 series, but my V40 has the premium sound package & this mainly seems to consist of one step up on the stereo itself, plus a big woofer in the trunk area (stationwagon). Nice bass sound! no jokes about the dog in the boot!

Thanks for the tip -- I guess if I've got a sub, they'd most likely put it under the back seat or driver's seat (didn't see it in the trunk).
Countdown is now at 3 days. I'm 3 hours away in Austin at home, waiting for the car to be ready to be picked up on Friday. Can't wait!

Good things come to those who wait!
I just checked handbook & the V40 factory sound upgrade adds the woofer as an additional 7th speaker, which has an integrated 80W amplifier.
Reminds me, must buy some Led Zep CDs in the January sales.....

First order of business is acquiring some Silverstars, and then we'll look into the ipod adapters. Thinking about keeping it stock other for a while, then moving into the intake/exhaust area, if anything.

Confucius said "man who moves into intake/exhaust area suffer from hot & cold flushes, strong wind and sooty face" AR - that was around 520 BC (before cars) - and he was never wrong!
On the day a week I get to go into the office, my drive is around 90 minutes each way. Ideal or what? Trouble is, rock/metal tends to make me drive faster & don't even mention Bat out of Hell. Ho hum.
Sounds like you'll be taking it one step at a time. Usually best, then if something doesn't quite work as well as you hoped, it's not so much effort to revise or reverse.
You are going to really enjoy the Volvo (it's in the small print on the registration apparently), you lucky dawg!

I picked up my baby from Dallas yesterday and took some pictures before sundown. The dealership did a great job detailing it. There is one new door ding that annoys me, but he said I could get it fixed locally and send him the bill -- so no worries.

Bodywork looks immaculate for 58k & interior is good for the mileage too. Very nice S60 indeed.
Troy Aikman Ford look like they know how to prepare a car properly. Wasn't he a famous "football" player - quarterback?
Hope you get many years of fun & safety out of it AR.
