What to do R.i.p. kit or samco hoses or custom
well im confused on what to do. i know my 1997 850 t5 should get the hoses replaced but what is the best route. should i get the ipd rip kit. go with the samco hoses or do a custom front mount. i plan to keep mods fairly simple on the power plan on getting the idp stage one ecu and a k&n filter and maybe an exhaust.
so what does everyone think i should do
another question. does the samco hose kit just replace the rubber parts and connect to the stock aluminum pipes
thanks in advance

the samco is just as you said. replaces the stock rubber.
IPD RIP kit. only porblem is that it lets more oil into the motor.
FMIC is the way to go. can be done pretty cheap too.
If you are going to get an ipd upgrade ecu. do the exhuast (3" turboback) filter, or CAI, FMIC, and the then do the tune.

I want a exhaust that wont make it noticed so i may have to leave it stock for now i just want basic things without making the car stand out. i will probably do the fmic soon though just because i have a feeling some of the piping is leaking some where
You'll gain more power from a full 3" mandrel bent turboback system then a rip kit. The RIP Kits are basically worthless. Wont gain much if anything from them other then under the hood appereance.
Im thinking about the obx turbo back exhaust and adding a cat and giant resonator. i wish i could get a good sound clip. also will be doing a fmic so we will see whopw that works out
and looking at turbo-tuner usb to tune the car

OBX should be fine... Or go custom.
FMIC will do wonders!
Turbo-Tuner usb? Please link us and explain more. Is it a self tuner system, or a company you send your ECU to, or a company you take your car to and they dyno tune your car?
Thanks

im leaning towards the obx or custom if i do custom it will be 3 inch but wont be a straight through design muffler in case i have to take the car on trips. interior resonance is a huge thing that bothers me i like to be able to hear myself think while i drive

Well if you want the most power then a straight through muffler is what you'll want. Also you could do two mufflers and or a resonator.
Im not out for the most power if i wanted that i would doa 3 inch downpipe to a electronic dump im out for more performance without sacrificing drive ability
And yes that tuning software is not for the people who dont know how to tune it could cause some serious damage if done wrong.

I would go the full silicone hose route before doing a rip kit. The whole intake system is already very effective, and like said earlier, the rip kit mostly aesthetics. I remember you said that your going to be coming to the midwest meet in August, I have a turbo back OBX exhaust, 3" DP to 2.5" exhaust straight pipe (no cat), and you can hear how it sounds, it's actually not very loud at all and I am very pleased with it, nice tuned sound. I have that with a K&N box filter and like the improvements. There are noticeable gains with the exhaust, faster spool up times.
