What did you do to your car today?
Had the wheels balanced. Turning out to be a nightmare. I found that my tires were leaking air because of the traditional clip on weights. So I told the kind folks at Wal-Mart to remove those weights and put the correct ones on. (Wal-Mart will balance & rotate your tires ever 5,000 miles if you pay them $7.50 per wheel).
Well, when I got the car back they had rotated two tires and put them on the wrong side. When I hit the highway it flet as if one of the wheels was going to fall off. So I checked them when I stopped and noticed that one (or two) of the tires were going in the wrong direction. Preformance tires usually are directional and must rotate the proper direction to run correctly. I also noticed that they stuck the weights all over the wheels. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF HAVING NICE WHEELS IF THOSE UGLY WEIGHTS ARE TACKED ALL OVER THEM. So I went back after hours to have the tires rotated to the proper direction and they offered me an oil change (think I'll pass on having the stooges change my oil).
So, I'm thinking about going back up there to get them to hide the weights behind the spokes.

Poor placement.

Good Placement
Free oil change. Yikes, they used the WRONG weight.
Since I had such a hard time getting my wheels balanced, the manager offered me a free oil change. Had to pass up and hey, what could go wrong? They are already on their toes and I use synthetic so I'll save about $30.
First off, the cost of the wait was pretty bad. Took them about 2 hours to get me in and out. They pulled my car in the garage within 5 minutes of me being there. Well, off I went, and they threw in a 1/2 quart of oil that was left over.
About 600 miles later I decided to take a close look at the sticker they put on my glass and realized they filled my oil with 5w30... Yikes! I'm glad it has been unusually cool here. So I got home and checked the 1/2 quart they gave me and sure enough it was 5w30. So, back to the shop to have the correct oil put in. I started to just buy the right weight myself, I told them that I use 10w30 but I guess my instructions, and the 1/2 quart bottle I showed them did not take.
The good thing is that they did another oil change without charge. I provided them with another filter. Hopefully there was not foul (damage to my engine).
The moral of the story is "alway check behind the mechanic".

Yesterday, I replaced the drivers side interior door opener 19 my 1997 960 wagon, not to bad a job. Lucky thing, I had sheet metal screws large enough to secure the new handle.
Late last week I attempted to seal the leaking sunroof seal (per instructions from a Brickboard member), thanks to Tech for the description and Dx. Over the weekend, some heavy rains. Looked inside after the rain had stopped and only three tiny drops on passenger seat, not soaked carpet, and water on the passenger's seat like I would have expected. So a little more to do.
Next the fuel rail which I dread, then the selector gates.

I stomped on the gas coming down the ramp to the highway.... (I hit about 80ish)
Of course the state trooper who was in the unmarked Tahoe was in the left lane at about the same time I merged into the right lane... (I spied the laptop on the dash) OH $#!%!!! I thought. So I'm off the gas quick, no break action (nose dive looks bad) and then he slows down and pulls in behind me... Double $#!%!!! - We are moving along for a long minute maybe two; when some rice boy flies by in a POS multi colored primer painted Civic with the coffee can muffler doing at least 90. (He must have had a tail wind). I'm thinking come on, get the punk... Get him, not me...
I lucked out – The trooper went after rice boy - and pulled him - I continued on my way. Of course I had to stomp the gas again when I was out of site. Later.

Well today I restall my wheel back on after 3 days of running back and forwards to get my bent rim fix that I had to take back to get the leak fix the second time. Finally no more flats! Also had to clean the spare tire well area. My aunt, the previous owner of the car must have spilled some food that had leaked many many many years ago. It was horrible for it looked like vomit and barbeque sauce mix together. Yuck!
Washed the 960 yesterday.
Put a silicone bead around the sunroof seal today (the 960).
Washed and waxed the 850 yesterday.
Touched up the wheels on the 850 today.
Trimmed the PCV system vacume tube that goes into the end of the intake manifold (it was crimped - 850).
Put a shim on the front end so my hood release would not poke out (850).

I don't have a hose anymore. Sad.
How often do you clay/wax it? I did it once to my sedan, but the scratches and swirl marks are beyond clay bar. At least it was smooth.
Clay bar a car every 3 months??? Wow! Most cars are lucky if they get wax twice a year. I think I wax my entire car 4 times a year and the top surfaces once per month.

Not mine. I wax mine every 30-45 days, to ensure the paint doesn't go south. 850's have been know for the clear to go. I'd rather wax it than having to get it re-sprayed!
I unplugged mine from the battery tender while I was in Vegas, filled it up and took it for a nice drive!

On the 960, I tried to replace the sunroof glass. The salvage yard gave me the wrong replacement. So I put a silicone bead of sealant all the way around the seal. Hopefully that will hold till I get another sunroof or seal.
