BTW, if you're looking up parts or something online, the normal term for that is "high center brake light" or "high center stop". Just trying to save you some time.

Default Replaced passenger fender and mirror glass

Well about a month ago I was heading back to New York City from upstate and hit a deer. I was heading back to pack up and get all the boxes down for the portable moving container coming. I was going around a curve on a two lane road at about 55-60MPH. I saw the deer running towards the road and knew no matter what we were going to hit. I slammed on my brakes and swerved to the left - I was about half way over the centerline and then we hit. I am pretty sure that if I didn't move over that three feet it could of been a lot worse. Don't know how fast I was able to slow down as it all happened so fast.

Had to take a train back upstate as I had a concert to play that night - amazing we got all the boxes in the container - container left and I caught a train back upstate to make my performance. It was quite the day!

You can see the damage from the pics. I had comp with glass being no deductible so the windshield was replaced in NYC in a couple of days. We were in the process of moving to Seattle so the bodywork was going to wait. Showed the pics to my dad who suggested to go on a junkyard look once we got into town. Went to Geico to get an estimate to fix it. They said total cost was $1486 - then they took the $500 deductible out of that and handed me a check for $986. Two days ago I found a white fender in good shape and a mirror in good shape (whole assembly) in Portland, OR at an autowrecking place (really nice folks). Drove down yesterday to pick up the items and installed them all today.

I didn't take out the mirror and housing from the door - instead just took out the broken mirror glass and put in the good mirror glass in the housing that got whacked. The motors still worked fine and the housing looked fine too. Took some gently prying with a small flat screwdriver but it all worked.

The fender replacement was really a piece of cake. This forum is such a good resource and helped a lot. Decent mechanic skills and just took my time and was methodical in what I did. I thought it all turned out pretty good. All in all took me about 4-5 hours - my dad and I got to talking when he got home and I had to get a sheet metal clip for the fender bolt from the dealer. Lost track of time but it was a fun job to do and put some extra money in my pocket. Fender and mirror were only $205 and $40 or so in gas to get there and back.

Replaced the radius rod bushes, the ones in the control arm (700 series). The car has been increasingly twitchy and would tramline. There were urethane bushes in there already, but they had either gone soft, or were always soft, and had extruded out of shape, allowing some movement. I'd been ignoring them as a problem because they "looked" good and were urethane. Since everything else is new in the front end, it has to be the problem, so out they came. Never assume anything!

Regards, Andrew.

Today i got the old engine out of my car and am now prepping the engine bay for the newly rebuilt replacement engine - photos will follow - it has been almost a year now since i bought my 96 platinum edition "KRISTINE" and its cost a lot of moolah -
approx $10,000 ( i have reciepts as proof) to date, on premium parts and 3 previous rebuilds before asshat me realized that engine #1 had a cracked cylinder. Upon recieving my replacement engine i realized that it also was in trouble so i just rebuilt it COMPLETELY -every weekend i was working on it rain or shine - now its time to do final assembly and get this crazy puppy going -- as of NOVEMBER 17TH IT WILL BE 1 YEAR AND I HOPE TO HAVE IT RUNNING ON ITS FIRST BIRTHDAY!! WISH ME LUCK --- MORE LATER

Thumbs up Deal Of The Century On Wiper Blades

Tis the season for wiper blade replacement! FYI - Trico is running rebates on several lines of wiper blades and allowing two per household/address. Max is $30 back on 4 wiper blades - awesome deal. Here's where I saw it!

I don't think I have every paid that much for a pair of wiper blades. Just a thought.

I hear ya...even though they are top-of-the-line, I'd have a hard time paying $30ish for a pair of wipers. But at $15 after rebate it makes it much easier to swallow!! LOL

Serviced the AC in the 850.

Charged the battery in the 960. I drained it the other day, forgot to turn off the ignition.
