Hi guys! I didn't do anything today, but a week ago, I bought side car mirrors for my S80 I have long wanted to buy, but all the time spared money, because the car is quite old, but still decided. She has served me for so many years....

Newbie here.

Just bought a '04 V70. Drove it sixteen miles home(well to my friend's house in Denver where i'm staying).

Read here on volvoforums about several folks's troubles with instrument panels going dead.

My instrument panel works except for the little orange 'info' panel on left. It doesn't light. And the yellow exclamation mark/triangle is lit.
"Info" switch on turn signal stalk doesn't do anything that i can detect.

I'd like to know what it wants to tell me before i start back to Arkansas in a few days.

Search doesn't find for me anything about the info panel.
Have you guys a pointer for this first time Volvo owner?

Got a spare dash from an '02, $25 at Danny's U-Pull in Tulsa.
Will renew the backlight lamps with LEDS then see if it fixes my unresponsive DIM. .
Hope it'll interchange with '04. Looks to be same physical size , so am praying the computers are compatible.

Yesterday I bought a 2011 XC 70 T6, today I replaced the massive front end defect. Replaced the badge missing the blue. Probably an hour total but at least 50 minutes of that was talking vintage scooters with the parts guy

Today on my 1989 744 I replaced...

Fan clutch

Upper/lower radiator hoses

Water pump

Alternator and power steering belts

Timing belt

Timing belt tensioner

Camshaft seal

Crankshaft seal

Auxiliary shaft seal

Crankshaft gasket

Valve cover gasket

Oil cap seal

Changed the oil and filter

Replaced the air filter

Cleaned the flame trap

And lastly...answered the question "do you work on cars?" with "only 30 year old Volvos with my name on the title" three different times.

Default What did I do to my car today?

Mine is a 2007 S80 3.2, what did I do to it today? I liberated it from the used car dealership and gave it a home... Now it's obviously time to diagnose problems and repair them

Atleast my ECU (fuel) is chippable.

Me and my dad were testing out the different durometers of the poly we made for his car. Fun stuff.
That sounds like a lot of fun! It's always exciting to try out new modifications and upgrades. I'm sure the custom endlinks made a huge difference in the performance of your car. And it's great that your ECU is chippable too. What kind of results have you noticed with the durometer testing?

Amateur here. My 242 1984 was starting slow in the AM, oxassionally slipping gears, acceleration poor at times. Figured my transmission was going bad. Went to a local, highly rated tyranny mechanic, who chatted with me for ten minutes. Said it could be the tyranny, or engine, but there was 'no real problem' there. I could bring it in, and it would cost me $200 - $500. Didn't tell me WHAT he was going to do. Never touched or even looked at my car.

A bit angered, I realized I hadn't checked my transmission fluid IN YEARS. Checked it (in Park, running), and ATF barely touched the bottom dip stick. Went to Monument Auto today and bought ATM and a funnel. It took axQuart, and needed more. I added 1.5 Quarts, seems to already run better with pep.

QUESTION: The black dipstick end has a SHORT mid-max on one side; and a wider mid-max on the other - maybe separated by 1" to 1.5". WHICH SIDE DO I USE IN A MODERATD CLIMATE - 60 to 70 degrees???

I created new logo for my car store. I founnd info about online logo creation ai that helps to promote online business. Those simple, memorable logos often come from deep thinking about the brand’s core message. I start by sketching rough ideas—sometimes abstract shapes, sometimes more literal representations of the brand. For example, for your skincare line, I might play around with images like leaves, water droplets, or even something abstract that suggests purity or nature.

Today I tackled a good deep clean of my car’s interior and gave the wheels a quick detail, and it really makes a difference in how enjoyable it feels to drive every day. It’s funny how just small maintenance and care can improve not only how the car looks but how you feel about taking it out. Do you have any regular go-to tasks you do each time you work on your Volvo to keep it looking and running great?

It sounds like you’re really digging into the issue and trying to narrow down the cause, which is the right approach with Volvos where one sensor or connection can throw everything off. Sometimes checking the simpler things first, like wiring and ground points, can save a lot of guesswork before swapping parts. Also, getting a second opinion from someone who’s seen that specific code on the same model can give you clues you might not have thought of yet.
