I finished putting in my much better condition dash pad in. I think my old one was worse than Tech's. The air bag cover was pretty much just sitting there and would just open up if I hit a big enough bump. The new one is a huge improvement.

Finally changed the transmission fluid. It was really burnt. Car's running great! I'm totally pissed that my shop has never told me to chage the ATF since I've been bringing it to them for the last year and a half or so. It didn't get like that overnight.

Grrrr...

At least the car's running WAAAAAY better.

OK, it's not my Volvo, but the Geo got one hell of an engine modification today. I purchased an Economy camshaft (Metro XFi Grind) and a 10 degree advanced timing gear for it recently....

I installed them in the car with a new cam seal and could not believe how much power this delivered! The car has great low-end power and I can run with my distributor fully advanced with no ping (spark knock) even on 87 octane fuel. Here is a pic of the new cam gear installed.....

Now I might be able to reach my goal of 60 MPG at 60 MPH.

I talked to thew guy who does custom cam grinds and he said that a vehicle with 2 cams like our Volvo cars would also benefit from a custom grind. The thing is with a DOHC setup you only need to modify the exhaust cam. I am trying to crunch some numbers and see if I cannot get and extra cam for the V70 and have him custom grind it for better fuel economy. I know it sounds crazy and if I screw up, I could bend valves, but I am a determined individual.

You can get more HP out of a turbo car by using a set of NA cams in it.
Higher lift and more duration.

Changed my voltage regulator.

Degreased the engine. (What a difference)

I finally broke down and bought some Turtle Wax ICE. Damn, that stuff is awesome. It took me all of 15 minutes to apply it to my entire V70, including wiping it off. The small amount you use is amazing. Next time I'm going to use a buffer and lightly buff it out.

I'm jealous of that timing belt as it looks way more easy to inspect and change than any I've seen in years. Without reading your post, and just looking at the picture, I thought I was somehow looking at a camshaft for some DOHC 6 cylinder engine. Looks like you have room to install some sort of fabricated exhaust header, too. I suspect general aftermarket performance parts are rather scarce for a 3 cylinder Geo/Suzuki. But maybe I'm wrong.

Performance aftermarket parts are not very popular for the 3 cylinder. One place makes a header for them and you can do turbo swaps from the old Sprint Turbo models also. Working on the Geo is way easier than working on the Volvo.

I always wanted to buy a metro and supe it up, but I didn't think you could really do anything to it. I had a '89 Suzuki Swift GTi that I was proud of, until I gave it to my mother and then it started rusting out. That was the end of that.

Default What did I do to my car today???

I installed new headlight wiper blades on the 850.

A bit of trivia... Did you know that head light wipers are a sign that the car has heated seats? It's part of Volvo's cold weather package.

Two days ago, I checked my fog lights, they work.
Yesterday I installed a light in my shifter indicator.
Today I ordered window tint (custom cut) and ordered mud flaps from stealership.
* All for 850

Yesterday I installed new shocks/struts and sway bar end links. Checked manual trans fluid while tires were off.
