Why do people think that HEY is a good lead off word? I see several threads and I get a lot of PM's with HEY as the subject line word. When I was growing up, we always told people that HEY was for horses.

Man, that's a very old joke.

Because "Hey" is increasingly a more common greeting, and most consider it a more friendly or colloquial address. I started using it as a kid after I read "To Kill and Mockingbird" and then saw the movie. I don't think they say "Hi" in the south, just "Hey".
