Default 2001 v70 2.4t transmission problems

I've been to all the forums and have found little answers. So decided to post my problem here.
I have a 2001 v70 2.4t the trans was replace at 40k miles by dealer the car now has 152k miles. Last month the tranny started acting up went into limp mode. I pulled the code and it came back speed input turbine sensor. So I replaced it myself and fixed the problem. Now today it went into limp mode again. It seems to be stuck in a high gear. It takes off in a high gear unless manually shifted into low gear and manually up shifted. New code as p0740 which comes up as tcc solenoid/torque converter clutch solenoid. If I erase the code the trans. Runs smooth and properly shifts for about 10miles or so then the service transmission pops up and back to being stuck in gear. I went down to the dealer and they say I need to buy a valve body that they don't sell just the sensor. I also can't find a part number for that sensor. It seems to have 3 linear sensors and the tcc sensor is the called the slu sensor. Has anyone had this problem and has been able to fix without taking to the dealer or buying a new valve body. Any advice will help. By installing the new speed input sensor could I have damaged something? Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You may be able to plug through some threads if you search "transmission" here. From all that I have read, that is the year that Ford really had tranny problems with. Hope someone can point you in the right direction.

The 2001 version is not a Ford unit, it is an AW like the later ones. The reason that that year gets blamed it that it is the oldest in the series.

I can give you some advice that may cure your problem, but not on this board due to the hostile comments of some creatures.

From one Tony to another can we let water go under bridge and join the community?
There are many others who appreciate your knowledge and experience(myself included) and forum being open to many, your feedback would benefit all of us. Cheers.

Hey Tony1963 I read that thread and know where your coming from. I found that company in north Carolina "rostra" and plan on buying the linear solenoids. There also is a company in San jose CA that rebuilds them called valvebody pros/ solenoid pros. They are closer so I might give them a call Monday. Please tell me if I'm on the right track and if there are any other things I need to do. I can't afford a rebuild or new tranny. So I would rather try to invest 500 myself and if it doesn't fix it, I'll sell the car. I have a hard time believing it needs a rebuild or a new valve body because when I clear the code ot runs and shifts perfect for a while then the code comes on and the tranny goes into limp mode.
