Default 1978 244 with fuel leak

Having issues with fuel leaking out of the gas cap…. Part of the issue seems to be the fact that the filler neck treads are messed up- so probably not getting a good seal with the gas cap.

wanting to replace the filler neck tube but having a hard time finding the correct part- even with the part number on the tube🙈 any suggestions?

thanks

From searching the number seems to be 1254446. Not available. I would try some epoxy like JB Weld. Then try to shape it by hand.

JB Weld does not hold up over time to gasoline. Your best bet is to try junkyards. Maybe one of the ones that sell on the internet like https://www.voluparts.com.

I had a problem with pinholes in the filler tube for my '90 240 and I had no luck in finding a suitable replacements. The junkyards near me pull all of the gas tanks and crush them prior to putting the car in the yard so that wasn't an option.
