1980 Volvo 240 Bottom Plate?
Volvo 240 (1975-1987). #1315499: Bottom plate
Can anyone give me any information on this? I am working on a 1980 240 classic wagon and I am replacing the driver side fender. I noticed that there is a metal plate stretching across the front of the car behind the bumper and bolts into the front end somehow. It looks like the trim goes directly on top of the "plate" and goes from one end to the other. The one on my 240 is rusted and deteriorated completely and needs replacing. Does anyone have one of these laying around or know where I can find one?
Thanks

volvopartswebstore.com is a genuine Volvo Dealer, its Volvo of Oak Park (Chicago area).... your site is too.

don't be surprised if you order that from Volvo, it turns up NLA after a month+ of back order.
I suspect you're going to need to find a early style 240 in a junkyard with a rust free and straight front end, and cut that off, then prep it so you can weld it to your car, and paint. According to Vadis, thats the same part up to USA model year 1982...
it might be worth just cutting away the tin worm then rivet and/or spot-welding on some sheet metal, then filling and painting.

I'm pretty sure that piece is spot welded, so its overlapping the tabs its welded to, you'll probably need to grind it off with a angle grinder. the headlight brackets are spot welded to it as are the two lower nose pieces (which are separate from the fenders, btw).
here's a huge view of my slightly bent 87 (same pic as above), maybe you can make out some of the detail if you blow it up.
