1982 244T Mods and Upgrades
Well, The Blower motor didn't work when we Bought the car, so last week was a good time to change it, before classes started up again.
The Blower motor on a 240 is a really annoying job to do. I would have rather swapped engine on the car, than do another one. I didn't take any pics of the blower motor swap, but here is when I was putting the dash back together.

I decide to gut most of the interior during this and clean everything. It was a gross mess from the previous owners.

Cleaned most of the floor, and did a quick shampoo of the carpets. Cleaned and protected most of the plastic pieces in the car, and cleaned and lexol'd the seats

New boost gauge installed, and just waiting for the AF gauge now.

So the fan is always on in a 240... may it be ventilation or something, but all I know is now I see why the blower motor died. After 150,000ish miles of continuous use, no wonder the brushes where finished. I don't want to replace another blower motor ever in this car, so I pulled the blue/yellow wire that leads to the switch, which feeds continuous 12volt power to the motor resistor. Now it has an Off position. yeah....

I have this 83 240. I would like to do as you are doing yours. This will be my first total (Volvo) venture.Where are you getting your parts.? IPD seems more expensive than most. I am quite knowledgeable about mechanics in general. I have a full set of tools (air & hand) I would like to know how you came up with your parts list. I will post some pics later. Both my cameras are at Nikon being serviced. We should have them back soon. I will share more when I hear from you.

speaking of vendors... FCP's CEO recently sent out a email to their customers thanking them etc etc and saying they are going to carry more and more real OEM and/or Volvo parts and less aftermarket parts as the quality of the "URO" etc stuff has been going down the tubes.
(in this context, 'real OEM' means Bosch etc who made the OE parts for Volvo)

thanks. Craving boost is the maker of the shifter, but John has closed down the volvo parts. He is doing something else.
assuming thats the air bag sensor thats under the seat, its Volvo PN 3515221 was superceded by 9148420. yeouch, $1126 at TascaParts.com ($1400 MSRP at your dealer). There's also a power storage unit (basically a big capacitor), 1363392, $417 that sits next to it.
the sensor is used in all 240's with airbags from 1990-1993, your best bet might be a junk yard.

It's been a while with this.
I drove the car and never had one problem with it. Running 10psi of boost.
I did some other things to the car, like seats, and a new hood and grille, and was installing a stereo.

Was going to be a nice and simple setup. a 10" sub and 2 6.5" in the rear deck. powered by a small, light, digital amp.
I was also moving the battery to the trunk.
Never got around to painting the hood to match the car.
The car was a Blast to drive!
It failed smog for high NOx (every other test was below the normal), and as I was on my way to retest the
car...Someone who had was only driving for 5months totaled the car.

I fought with the insurance companies and was finally offered a fair price after 1 month of calls, one appraiser, and one letter to the department of insurance explaining how this case was being "Handled".
New Project thread will start once I get further involved with them.

I gutted the car completely, and with the money from the claim, I was able to purchase 2 cars.
First car was a friend of mine selling his awesome, unfinished, 1976 242 race car.

This car has a lot of parts to list, but major parts are:
2.5L stroked b230 block w/ RSI internals.
16v head. Penta Cams.
Nuke performance parts...etc.
1000cc injectors.
Holset Turbo.
T5 transmission w/ Hurst Short shifter.
Hydro Clutch conversion.
13in "R" big brake kit.
Rsport steering wheel.
Autometer Gauge sets.
Lots of goodies.
Should be around 500 hp when I'm done with it.

The second car is a 1975 242 DL with 49,000 original miles.
It has a B20 engine with Kjet, automatic transmission, and a light blue paint job.
I think it is Volvo Sapphire Blue, but Not 100% sure. I believe it is original paint also, with some areas of the car with touch up paint.

Here it is getting pressure washed and cleaned.

The car does have some rust areas, but I am treating those spots. The interior is dirty, and the car was sitting for a long time.
The car does not run at the moment. The kjet system was all clogged with rusted gas. The tank was all rusted.
I have since Removed the Kjet system, and took it all apart. Cleaned every fuel part, and am currently waiting for new parts to show up.
The engine is out of the car right now, awaiting parts and I am going to paint the engine bay while its out. New thread will come very soon.
This car will be my new car, and will have all of my suspension stuff on it.
I am borrowing parts from the other blue 242 to get this car running.

Thanks. The whole situation ruined my summer. Last year of school and it is going to be crazy. Unfortunatelly, I will have little time to work on them. Next summer is when they should be finished. The 75 will slowly get worked on during the year.
It was sad, but I got 2 smog exempt car in return. Happy about that.
