1984 Volvo 245 DL Fuel Systems Noob
Hey people!
So my $300 project Volvo had been sitting in the previous owners garage since 2003 when I bought summer of 2017 and I was able to run it right away with a new battery at first. This is my first project car and i’ve been learning the basics on it so any tips on what to check and what i should be fixing/replacing to optimize performance would be nice.
I’m visiting home from college and I just replaced the spark plugs and I am in the process of replacing the alternator which was bad.
When i could drive the car it RIPPED through gas but it never leaked so I was wondering where in the fuel systems is messing up? Is there a way to diagnose this?
Also i bought a kit to replace the in-tank fuel filter/pump which will hopefully help some what.
If anybody here has experience with unclogging fuel lines or replacing fuel pumps and has any tips or advice it would be greatly appreciated! Should I be replacing fuel lines? or just unclogging them somehow?
Thanks a lot guys!

I’ll try to attach some pics of the car here too.
That is a nice specimen. Good luck getting her dinged up. Mine hasn't been licenced since 2007 and its been outside ssooo . . . Lotsa work to do
Only advise I've got is buy the good stuff when replacing parts. Don't short change yourself or the car. You'll both be happier in the end.
