Thank you for your time and input Jagtoes. I followed that link and it says that particular part does not fit my car according to IPD. I'm going to have to do more research.

indeed, all volvos from about 83 to mid year 87 have bad wiring harnesses, with insulation that cracks and crumbles under the outer black sheaths. if thats not been addressed, all bets are off. replacement wiring harnesses are model year specific, I believe there's two for an LH car, one for the ignition system, the other for the injection. homebrew repairs (trying to replace individual wires) generally end up a mess.

re that vacuum hose, if indeed, thats the crankcase ventilation / 'flame trap' line, it looks like this...

and the part 7 is 1336681. odds are pretty good the whole oil seperator tank (1) and associated parts (5), (6) should be replaced as the originals are likely brittle and cracked. Genuine Volvo stuffs from dealers like https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/s...roduct=1125815

or aftermarket generic like
Amazon Amazon
(thats parts 5,6,7)

if you replace (1), you probably should also replace o-ring (2)

part (6) is the actual flame trap, this should be cleaned with every oil change for best long term results.
