1985 Volvo 245 DL 2.3L. Any Advice?
Ok. Let's get down to business. I have a 1985 Volvo 245 DL T4 2.3L Automatic, and I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice on how to maximize my performance with the B230f (non-turbo) engine without an engine swap? I haven't gone through any other threads, yet, so if there is a familiar one, please post the URL.
Well, if you want to keep it n/a, a larger free flowing exhaust always helps. The modest M cam in your motor can be swapped for a T cam. The T is stock in turbo motors and usually discarded in favor of a more aggressive cam but it's an improvement in n/a motors. Lots of money? Mill the head to increase compression, port and polish the head, gasket match 'em. Or, you could go turbo. It's called a +T when you turbo an n/a motor. Lots of folks do it but not me. The turbo motors run lower compression so you can add significant boost. To get your 114 hp motor much above 150 hp takes a lot. Hit turbobricks.com and search.
