Red face 1986 240 blower motor replacement question

Hey guys,

I just got my 1986 240 gl sedan a week ago, been to salvage yards as ordered speakers and such...

Noticed an issue with the fan and read around to realize I need a new blower motor...

I have a 3 day weekend and decided after being quoted 800$ I'd just do it using Volvo 240 Heater AC Blower Fan Motor Replacement ... But before I get started I was hoping someone could tell me which parts i need exactly to order before I get in there and try to get it all done...

Thanks

Sadie

you're talking about the AC blower?

afaik, you just need a new motor.

its $222 for a real volvo one at Tasca
1986 VOLVO 244 Parts - TascaParts.com

or $57 for the siemens/vdo OE part at FCPeuro...

From what I have read, you should replace the resistor pack as well. Since your blower moter isn't working, you don't know if your resistor pack is good either. I'd hate to put it all together to find that the resistor pack is bad too.

Here is the part I am talking about:

resistors are easily tested with a digital multimeter in its "ohms" setting. there are three in series, the one for the next to fastest speed is like 3 ohms, and the others are somewhat higher
