How should I expect to pay to have a speedometer replacement done for a 1989 240, with a reputable dealer.

Ballpark, I know you can't say for certain...

This is what would be needed to take the car out of Antique status and into regular registration.

I'm not handy enough to do this myself.

i literally just fixed the odometer on my wife’s ‘87 this morning. total time, beginning with removal of the cluster and ending with the installation of the cluster, was 1.25 hours. included cleaning, replacing a disintegrated gear, and soldering a broken wire. only tools needed: phillips and flat screwdriver, plastic trim tool, flashlight, soldering iron, razor blade, 8mm nut driver, toothpick to pick out bits of the old gear, and multimeter (to test my soldering work).

also, why use an ‘87 cluster with an ‘89?
