Default 1988 240 dl problem

So I have an 88' 240 dl and I love it to death. It is having a slight hiccup right now though. I starts fine every time, but when I want to accelerate, it just stalls. Does anyone know what this could be? If I accelerate REALLY slowly then it can build up to a driveable speed, but if I push the accelerator just a little to hard then it dies. Any help would be apprecated. Thanks in advance.

How about the basics, check disty cap and ignition wires, vacuum leaks, clogged fuel filter.

Mine used to do that and come to find out the screen in the fuel tank was full of crud. My car had sat for almost 2 years when I bought it so that explains the problem I had. I removed the tank, cleaned it out, replaced the in-tank fuel pump, and haven't had a problem since.

First thing I would do is get a new air filter and fuel filter. Also clean out/replace if you want the distributor cap and rotor. Also check your vacuum hoses there are a million of them on old 240s and one unhooked hose can cause a whole slew of problems. I would also go get somw STP or similar fuel system cleaner and run that in you next couple tanks.

I had issues quite similiar with my 240 a while ago...if i knew then what i do now.
I agree with replacing fuel filter. if you can afford it, replace or upgrade your main fuel pump and intank pump. fuel pimp relay and fuses. also make sure your Air-Mass Meter is not bunk. perhaps your fuel injectors are clogged or leaking. And of course, perform a complete tune up.

HEy guys, just thought i'd update everyone on the situation. After a guess and check approach to this problem, it seems as I have found it... the Air Mass Meter. I disconnected it and everything seems to be ok. So I am going to the junkyard to see if there is one for cheap and see if I can get an easy cheap fix. Otherwise, I will get a refurbished one from Ebay. Anyway, thanks for all your help guys, it was really appreciated.
