1989 Volvo & 1991 Volvo
Hello.
I have a 1991 Volvo Station Wagon, a friend is selling his 1989 Volvo Station Wagon and would give me a good deal on it...what i probably would use it for mostly is parts....so what i am wondering is will most parts from the 89 fit my 91.
Thanks.

Most parts are compatible between these years. You may find differences in some of the electricals but in general everthing is the same.
I used to have an '89 wagon that my son totalled. I found a '91 sedan in need of significant mechanical work for less than $500. We swapped many parts across from the '89 to the '91.
Some of the things we swapped:
- Rear axle
- Brake Calipers and disks for all 4 wheels
- Power steering pump
- Alternater
- Steering rack
- Doors
- Gas Tank
- Entire exhaust system (including exhaust manifold)
Plus other items I can't recall.

Wow - that is a lot different. Sorry, both of the models I was talking about were 240s.
Between the 240 and 740, most parts are different. Really, the engine and drive train are about the only parts they have in common and even those are different.
None of the brake parts swap between these models nor do any of the body or interior parts. Some of the electricals might be the same but I really don't know that much about the 740.
