(1989 VOLVO 740 TURBO WAGON) Horrible on start up. HELPPPP!
Hello All,
Hopefully just a quick one. Since I bought my 1989 Volvo 740 Turbo Wagon, every time on first start up it struggles for a minute or two then it settles down and then is fine. (also a little bit of a strong smell of gas while this happens)
Also sometimes in the first couple of minutes from starting it up when driving it loses power for a couple of seconds like there is something going on with the fuel getting to the engine too much or not enough..
Really don't know what to do as my knowledge is not to great on these kind of issues.
What do you guys suggest?
Hope all is well
Simon

I'm not so familiar with the 740 but I vaguely recall that there was a TSB for some years that called for re-wiring the cold start injector so it only is engaged when cranking the engine. Don't know if the TSB covered turbo models though.
Perhaps Pierce can weigh in as he has a 740 Turbo model.
