Alright guys I'm new to the Volvo world; I bought a 1990 740 Intercooled this past weekend and would like some incite into my new toy. What little quirks should I look for with the age of this car? How can I read Service Engine codes without having the Volvo specific scan tool? What will the number of LED flashes mean? Any and all information will be appreciated. I have SUNY Morrisville's 40,000 sq. ft. shop at my disposal. Thanks again!

Hey thanks guys! I really appreciate it considering I have to go home from school to work on it. But all is well now with the info you guys got me. Now are the diagnostic sockets that I have to plug in to require a fuse in the jumper lead and are the sockets labeled so I'm not sticking it in the wrong spot and fry an expensive computer?
