Hey everyone,

I'm new here and while I personally don't own a Volvo, I've always wanted to own a 240 someday.

I have a quick question I'm hoping that you guys in the 740 section can answer for me. My boss has a 1990 740. He was recently at a shop and they told him that he needed to get the tire replaced on the spare wheel. They then told him that because the car is "so old", they couldn't find the correct size tire for the spare cus "they don't make that kind of tire anymore". They told him that they would call around to some salvage yards to see if they have them.

My question is, is this mechanic guy full of it or is the tire for the spare for a 1990 740 that hard to find? Also, I'm in Los Angeles so if anybody in this area know where my boss can pick up a tire for his spare, that would be really helpful.

Most likely has a space saver spare which they may not make anymore. I believe he has the room for a full size spare so just go to a salvage yard or ebay and pick one up. You can also buy a spare wheel and tire from Tirerack . Our 89 740 has a full size spare.
