Default 1990 740 wagon won't start, no power to starter solenoid

Been reading a lot of post on here related to this problem, just wanted to post myself to see if i'm on the right path.

My car was starting fine, then it started to start intermittently and now won't start at all from keying the ignition (starter is not engaging). I can disconnect the starter solenoid and start the car by jumpering the power to the solenoid with a screwdriver and the car runs fine.

A lot of the post have said to check the neutral safety switch or the PNP (have no idea what that is). Are these the only two things that could be causing my car not to start?

Neutral safety switch IS sometimes referred to as PNP...
That, or may be the ignition switch itself is bad, it's been known to happen...

Thanks for the quick reply!

I have checked the neutral switch and it is working. Funny thing is that when I check voltage to both the pink wire at the neutral switch while its hooked up and the green blue wire that goes to my solenoid while it is disconnected I have roughly 9vdc but when I turn the ignition switch and try and crank the motor the voltage disappears. The battery is fully charged and on a trickle charger.

The switch is cheap and easy to replace.
