Default 1990 Regina Pre-Startup Question

New Year's greetings.

I have a quick question concerning the sounds which can be expected from a 1990 B230F Regina setup during pre-start.

Specifically, in every fuel injected car I have personally owned, twisting the key to "run" from the off/acc position causes the fuel pump relay to operate (closing with an audible click) -- allowing the pump to prime the injection rail for 1 to 2 seconds.

During this, a light humming sound from the in-tank pump will also be heard (when the car is in a quiet space) for those 1-2 seconds, followed by the pump relay's click as the priming sequence ends.

Is this to be expected from one of these cars? Basic intuition tells me yes, but I have found no comments in any related posts which indicates this sequence occurs with these particular FI systems.

Thanks in advance!

For the LH 2.4 and LH 3.1 fuel injection systems the answer is yes, it should behave like that. I'm not sure on the earlier versions of the fuel injection. LH 2.4 started in these cars around 1989 so I would expect this behavior in your car.

Thanks for stopping by, act1292.

Just to clarify, the location from which the telltale two-clicks are heard is typically in the center console of these cars?

Got it, and thanks. Looks to be the same over here, too.

I seem to have located the physical device: It's a packaged pair of miniature relays in a single plugin located above the fuse panel.

Needed to pull the ashtray to hear that single relay doing its work (it's that small!).

On to the next task

Have a great day --
