1990 Volvo 740GL wagon fuel assembly system failure
Hello, this is my first post on here. I am attempting to help my son find a part. I used to own this vehicle, then sold it to my son about six years ago dirt cheap. My kid experienced a pretty significant gas leak. Ha! Better stated, not him, his Volvo. It is now sitting at Swedish Engineering - a local Volvo auto repair - with a faulty fuel pump assembly. Nothing wrong with the fuel pump itself. According to the mechanic the housing at the top of the fuel pump that leads into the gas tank has broken. We have called various part shops. Nobody can track this part down. By the way, it's a Regina System Volvo, whatever that means. So we are taking the junk yard route now. Any advice? Has anyone else experienced this with their Volvo? I think it has just over 200K now, and I wish my son would start looking for something else but he is attached to this car and in his words, "doesn't want to buy someone else's problem that he knows nothing about." I'm somewhat irked at Swedish because they are basically leaving it up to him to track down this part. So here I am, helping and hoping that someone can chime in. I ride a Vespa and do all of my own mechanical repairs. And I own a Ford Escape right now that I want to take behind the barn and shoot.

the lock ring is 1325236. later cars had a metal clamp around this ring as the ring tended to deform with fuel vapors and age.
the sealing gasket/ring that goes into the tank mouth is 1367632
the flange with the pipe fittings going through it is all one piece with the fuel level sender, part 271440, or as a complete assembly with the Regina fuel pump already installed, part 3547206
no idea if any of these part numbers are available anymore, try googling "volvo part XXXXX" for any given number.
Regina is an alternate fuel injection system that some 740's had, usually paired with a different ignition system too. Regina EFI uses a MAP rather than a MAF (pressure rather than airflow), and uses a single in-tank pressure pump, instead of the in-tank transfer pump paired with an under-the-car pressure pump that the Bosch system uses. Regina cars usually have Rex ignition, which has a rectangular coil module instead of the traditional 'baby bottle' ignition coil the Bosch systems used.
