1992 740 stalls when warm
Hi All
My 1992 740 always starts even after weeks of being parked, no drawn out cranking just touch the key and she is alive and goes right down the road .We love this "old rag" we refer to her as Old Faithful. My 99, I was told needed so many special devices to set it up after any repairs to the engine that If I did this in my driveway it would never run again so it cost me $7000 in 6 years and wanted another 4K for repairs to # 4 cylinder, sold it for $ 800 and glad to be rid of it. So ok back to the 740 ( with 220,000 miles) you can drive it for 10 min or an hour or all day and shut'er down to get gas or go to the store or whatever and when you go to restart, it always lights right off BUT you have to 2 peddle it for several blocks to keep it from stalling. Once "something" gets hot enough or cools off from water circulation it is fine again.
Question: what is/are my most likely suspects?
Phil

I thought a vacuum leak might be involved, but a vacuum leak wouldn't "fix itself" everyday although the climate control (if you will)is certainly enteraining these days. Whatever I have on heat or A/C will stay heat or A/C but as I change the manafold vacuum by accerating or backing down the air changes where it comes out.
As to the stalling I am suspicious of a sensor or moving internal part of the emmissions system that is sluggish with grit or muck. maybe the O2 sensor is going out but I'd like to be sure because they are pricey.
I would love to just tear into it and clean out the entire intake and egr system but this is my wifes daily driver so it can't be off line for more than an evening if possible.
This is a B 240 F engine, Car built 10/91 sold as a 1992 model year
nonturbo automatic
I am thinking this can't be the only 740 out there with this issue.I wouldn't wish this problem on anyone but I'm hoping someone has been there already that can shed some light on this.
