1995 940 transmission linkage.
A little help please before dropping transmission. 1995 940. Shifter suddenly got sloppy. Found worn bushing at linkage on transmission. Replaced bushing. When tightening back on, gave an extra snug and linkage turn a partial rotation. Unable to get it out of Park before or after re-assembly of shifter. Suggestions to unlock it before dropping tranny and bringing it in??

That didn't work. How about this.

Linkage on tranny was at 12:00. Upon tightening it clicked to the right about 1:30. It won't come back. Right now it's raing and car is on the ground.

I hope you didn't just go run outside and drop the gearbox. I was being a jerk and being sarcastic.
Did you loosen ANY nuts back on the end of the shift linkage when you did the bushings? If so, you did it wrong and probably have misadjusted linkage now. You only are supposed to use a pick and pull off the clips for a bushing change!

Took linkage down to and from shifter. Silly, I know. Can't take it back. Going to try pulling console and crossing wires on that silly switch I've been reading about. If that doesn't work, I guess tranny comes out. Just don't understand why it won't just click back to re-install linkage in original position.

slow down dude!
Oh yeah, forgot about the Shiftlock mechanism. Do you hear solenoid click when you hit the brake pedal? Crossing wires!!!!? WTF?
If the solenoid aint workin', there is a yellow shift lock override tab/button somewhere down there. I forget. See if you can get the shifter outta park using that! dont go crossing wires!

Well its as simple as listening for the click when you hit the brake pedal. If you dont hear it, you check IF you have 12v making it all the way to the solenoid positive wire or not. If you do, solenoid is bad. If you don't, wiring is bad. That simple.
Please don't go crossing wires. There are fuses in the system to prevent massive wiring meltage due to the event of a short circuit. Don't introduce your own short circuit just because you don't know what you are doing.
