I recently saw a craigslist post that someone near me was selling a 92 244 as a parts car or to put $1500 into it to make it street legal. I have an 89 240 and I was wondering how close these vehicles really are compatably. I am not sure yet on how much this person is selling the vehicle for, but if I get the responses that I am hoping to hear, I could very well be interested.

they are fairly identical, except possibly for things like ABS and SRS systems... the major drivetrain components and body are the same.

 

^^The only other issue could be the fuel injection system, primarily a possible difference in ecu, icu and amm. The 89 is definitely Bosch LH2.4 fuel injection but the 92 may also be LH2.4 or, less desirable and not compatible, LH3.1.Still, 99% of parts would swap over.

 

Thanks for the help guys. Those answers are exactly what I was hoping to hear! He sent me an e-mail last night and said he was looking to get $500 for it. Little to no rust on the body and Interior is in good shape(according to him, havent seen pics yet) The car has 240k on it & mine has about 170k on it but mine has front bumper damage and not sure the extent of it. Probably looking to do an engine swap.
