Can anyone post a link or instructions for replaceing front wheel bearings on a 240 DL.

I have some side to side play on the drivers side while the tire is on the ground.

Does this indicate that the Wheel Bearings are bad, can I just replace the outer bearings or do I need to replace the Bearing Hub

This could be caused by various problems. However, it should be fairly easy to diagnose. First check for play by placing your hands at 9 & 3 oclock. Then check for play at 12 & 6 oclock (need to be jacked up for this).

If you have play at 9 & 3 oclock but not at 12 & 6, then your problem most likely is your tie rod ends.

If you have play at 12 & 6 oclock but not 9 & 3, then your problem is most likely ball joints.

If you have play at both, then it could be your wheel bearings or both of the above.
